Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud says he would welcome Younes Belhanda with 'open arms'

ARSENAL forward Olivier Giroud has given his thumbs up to Younes Belhanda.

The Montpellier midfielder has been pining for a move, following an underwhelming season for his club, as they finished outside the European places.

Belhanda has also piqued Spurs' interest, as they look to provide more cutting edge in the middle of the park.

Giroud, who weighed in with 10 goals during his debut season, says Belhanda could cut it in the Premier League.

"I would welcome him with open arms," Giroud told French paper L'Equipe.

"He called me to ask for advice about the Premier League. He has the basics with the engine and the physique cut out for this league.

"He would just have to work a bit athletically to be able to handle the physical impact of the tackles."

Belhanda, who has burnt his bridges with Montpellier chairman, Louis Nicollin, could fetch up to £12.8m.
